Who Are Dan McCafferty’s Children? – Dan McCafferty retired from the band’s tour in 2013 because of the effects of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lung condition that makes breathing difficult. Details about his cause of death are unknown, however.

Regarding the events that ultimately caused his death, nothing is known. His bandmate Pete Agnew posted on Instagram to confirm his death.

The post reads;

“This is the saddest announcement I ever had to make. Maryann [McCafferty’s wife] and the family have lost a wonderful loving husband and father, I have lost my best friend and the world has lost one of the greatest singers who ever lived. Too upset to say anything more at this time.”

Dan McCafferty’s raspy vocals were featured in the Nazareth band’s cover of the Everly Brothers’ “Love Hurts,” which made it to the top 10 of the charts and made Dan McCafferty famous.

McCafferty also contributed to a lot of the songs the band wrote in the 1970s. Notably, he sang on every Nazareth album from 2004 until 2014, the most recent of which was “Rock ‘n’ Roll Telephone.”

The third and final solo album by McCafferty, “Last Testament,” was released in 2019, despite the fact that he stopped touring.

He participated in 45 years of Nazareth tours and appeared on every album the band released up until 2014. He co-wrote some of Nazareth’s biggest hits, including “Bad Bad Boy” and “Broken Down Angel.” Three albums were self-released by him.

Some of the singles that he released in his career are “Out of Time” (1975), “Watcha Gonna Do About It” (1975), “Stay With Me Baby” (1978), “The Honky Tonk Downstairs” (1978), and “Starry Eyes” (1987).
